Handcrafted for Clients
Our services are handcrafted to meet each organization’s culture and needs. We recognize the critical need for inclusive approaches that are closely attuned to the diverse voices in our community. We collaborate with all stakeholders to develop meaningful evaluations and essential next steps. Ultimately, these insights become vibrant components of each organization’s ongoing plans.
We work with traditional evaluation methods, including surveys and interviews, and more expansive approaches including arts-based methods and participatory action research.
Our Approach
Moxie Research embraces a variety of tools and processes so clients can get questions answered, make decisions, and reach their goals.
Ethnography
Sherry Turkle defines ethnography this way: “…the researcher sits, listens, has conversations, and observes.” This open-ended approach is particularly well-suited for arts and cultural organizations, whose work is often nuanced and context-rich. Ethnographic methods, including interviews and observations, provide a richer understanding of arts experiences, art making, and arts learning.
Ethnography embraces the expertise of program participants and/or audience members. We approach this work with humility and respect for those who engage with us. We are conduits for others’ stories and experiences rather than arbiters of what is good or bad. We partner with stakeholders and communities to fully represent their insights.
Quantitative Methods
Some questions are best answered with numbers. We deploy surveys, website analytics, and other tools to gather large data sets and allow for a broader understanding of a program’s measurable impact. Looking at data from hundreds or thousands of people provides invaluable insights to support case-making and program development.
